Biography
Fourteen years ago, the world was sent a gift: a young man with the ability to make your heart sing, cry, and laugh with his unique, raspy voice, and distinctive style of playing the accordion. Talent, passion, dedication and discipline have made him an undeniable figure in the Norteno and Tejano world, winning himself fans all over the United States and Mexico.

Michael Salgado’s success lies in part with his style of music, which is traditional Norteno music, where the accordion and bajosexto, or 12-string guitar, are the main instruments. Being left-handed, Michael Salgado provides an interesting display of skill playing the accordion upside down. "I have always liked the accordion. This type of music is part of my roots," Michael said.

Success didn't come overnight for Michael Salgado. "The road has not been easy. I've been working very hard for a long time to get where I am," Michael admits. At the early age of seven, Michael performed at private functions and many traditional events. "My father used to have a group called 'Conjunto Alegria,' and he would always bring his guitar to our family gatherings with my grandfather and friends. Then, someone would say 'let the kid sing,' and there I was singing a popular song."

In 1989, living in Big Springs, Texas, Michael Salgado began the rocky and difficult road to success, placing all his hopes on his music by recording his first album with Joey International records. Some years and several albums later, "CRUZ DE MADERA," from the album of the same name, became his first mega-hit single reaching the number one spot on Billboard’s Latin Tracks Chart, giving Michael Salgado his first Platinum Record.

After "CRUZ DE MADERA," Michael Salgado has taken the industry by storm. The music is a great display of Michael Salgado’s versatility proving that not only can he appeal to his fans with Norteno music but also with the traditional and classic Mariachi.

In October of 2000 Michael Salgado presented the world with his album, proving to be his best work to date. Though success took long in coming, his career has proven to be everything he has prayed for. Blessed with a musical talent and a humble heart, Michael Salgado finds no better satisfaction than being on stage, singing his songs, and playing his accordion.

One of his principles is that the fans should always come first, as he demonstrates on each presentation, where he feels at his best surrounded by his fans. "I don’t want any limits to my music. All I look for is to please my public the best way I can."
